What is Praiseach?
Praiseach is a daily task planner that schedules your tasks around your energy, not just the clock. You add your tasks (or describe your day in plain English), and it lays them out so your hardest work lands in your peak-focus hours, with breaks, lunch and your fixed commitments worked in automatically.
What does "Praiseach" mean, and how do I say it?
Praiseach is Scottish Gaelic for a mess or muddle. It comes from the phrase na dèan praiseach dheth — "don't make a mess of it" — something the founder's dad has always said. The whole point of the app is to help you not make a praiseach of your day. You can read the story on the About page.
How does energy-matched scheduling work?
Praiseach builds a focus curve anchored to the time you naturally wake, rather than to the clock. The shape it uses is a common description of how alertness tends to move through a day — a rise a few hours after waking, a dip in the early afternoon, and a smaller second wind in the evening. It then places demanding tasks near your peaks and lighter work in the dips, with a daily cap on how much demanding focus it will schedule. It's a planning model, not a measurement of you, and you can move anything it suggests.
How are difficulty and peak hours decided?
You mark each task hard, medium or easy. Each level shows as one, two or three filled dots, so it reads the same in greyscale or with any kind of colour blindness. The hardest tasks get first claim on your best hours. Your peaks come from a few quick questions during setup — your wake time, how long you can focus before a break, and how many hours of demanding focus you have in a day.
Where is my data stored? Is it private?
Praiseach is local-first: your tasks, schedule and settings live in your own browser on your device, and the app works fully offline. If you create an account, a copy is also stored on our servers so your plan reaches your other devices — and you can delete all of it, everywhere, from Account. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Do I need an account?
No — you can use a profile stored only on your device, which is just a name and an email in your browser so the app can tell two people apart. Or you can create a real account: enter your email, we send a one-time sign-in link, and your plan syncs between your devices. There's no password either way, so there's nothing to leak and nothing to reset.
How does the AI task parsing work? Do I need an API key?
No key needed. Describe your day in plain English and Claude turns it into tasks with estimated durations and difficulty. The text goes to our own server, which holds the API key and passes your text to Anthropic — you're never asked for a key and never billed. Because it costs us money to run, there's a fair-use limit of 10 AI parses a day; past that your text still becomes a task, just without the automatic breakdown. The feature is entirely optional and everything else works without it. The durations and difficulty it suggests are estimates — check them.
Can I import my calendar?
Yes. You can import an .ics export from Google, Apple or Outlook, or a simple .csv. Events come in as tasks with their date, start time and duration. There are downloadable CSV and ICS templates in the app.
How do streaks and days off work?
Completing your planned day keeps your streak going. Days you turn off in your work hours (say, a weekend) simply aren't scheduled and won't break your streak. There's also an end-of-day check-in that compares planned vs. actual and carries anything unfinished to tomorrow.
Can I install it, and does it work offline?
Yes — Praiseach is a Progressive Web App. You can install it to your home screen or desktop, and because your data lives on your device, the core app keeps working offline (the AI feature needs a connection).
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Praiseach is free. There's no paid tier, no subscription, no in-app purchase and no advertising — you're never asked for payment details. The AI feature is free too, within a fair-use limit of 10 parses a day, and it runs on our API key rather than one you have to supply.
